James A. Liebscher

James Liebscher joined the firm in 2025. James is a business lawyer who advises companies, entrepreneurs, boards of directors, and executives on a broad range of matters, including entity formation, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, capital formation, licensing, and general corporate and contractual issues. He has extensive experience counseling both public and private companies on securities law compliance, including public and private offerings, Exchange Act disclosure obligations, and compliance with federal and state securities laws.

Before returning to private practice, James served as Chief Legal Officer and Secretary of Solid Power, Inc., a publicly traded battery technology company headquartered in Louisville, Colorado. During his tenure at Solid Power, he led the company through its de-SPAC transaction and oversaw all legal, contractual, securities, governance, and compliance matters.

Prior to his in-house roles, James practiced as a corporate and securities attorney at several law firms in Denver, where he focused on mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings and disclosures, entity formation, and general business law.

In 2025, James and his wife relocated to Colorado Springs to be closer to family and the mountains. Outside of work, James enjoys playing golf, hiking, biking, and tending to his (too many) grills while cooking dinner with his wife.

Before practicing law, James served for nine years as an airborne linguist in the U.S. Air Force. During his military career, he routinely flew counter-narcotics and counter-insurgency reconnaissance missions throughout Latin America as well as combat reconnaissance missions in support of operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.
